LEARN MORE ABOUTSHARON TOWNSHIP

Sharon Township is a rural community located in the west central region of Washtenaw County in the southeast area of Michigan, within an agriculturally dominated region. There are many small towns and settlements nearby. The closest, the City of Manchester abuts the south-central border of the Township. The City of Chelsea is three miles to the north. Larger urban centers, such as Jackson to the west and Ann Arbor to the east, are less than one-half hour away. The 2010 census indicates a population of 1,737.

The topography of the Township can be described as level to very steep, with the northwest portion comparatively flat and the southern regions more rolling. The central area of the Township exhibits very steep grades and these topographic conditions, along with the associated woodlands and wetlands, compromise the unique Sharon Short Hills area. This area is also one of the primary groundwater recharge areas for the County.
